DRESSING SMART FOR SNOWBOARDING IN COLORADO

 Telluride SlopeStyle recommends layering your clothing.

1. Against your skin, riders need to wear synthetic long-underwear and synthetic socks that will wick moisture away from your body and keep you warm and dry. SlopeStyle suggests Patagonia Capilene long-underwear and Smartwool snowboarding socks.

2. Next is your insulating layer most commonly constructed of acrylic fleece. SlopeStyle offers many fun and fashionable fleece pieces for riding and apre's ride.

3. Last is your waterproof/windproof outerwear layer. This layer is designed to protect you from the elements.

4. Good Accessories will make the difference. Keep you Warm!

Hats/Helmets: Always wear a hat or helmet for total body warmth. 80% of body heat loss is from the head.  Helmets provide head protection for unexpected crashes.

Gloves or mittens: waterproof gloves with removable liners are the best.  Waterproof/Breathable gloves or mittens keep water out and allow hand moisture to escape out of the gloves.  Removable liners allow for appropriate layering depending on the conditions of that day.  Liners can be removed to wash & or dry.

Eye Protection: at 8,750' - 12,000' in altitude your eyes need 100% UV protection at all times. Use sunglasses or goggles.

Sunscreen: at high altitude good sunscreen is  must! SlopeStyle recommends Terrapin SPF 30 in a 1oz. bottle so you can carry it with you and re-apply often.

Socks: It is important to wear a sock that wicks moisture and will keep your feet dry and therefore warm.  Snowboard specific socks will keep your feet from rubbing inside you boots.  Do not wear cotton unless you like cold feet and blisters.
